EVENT ORGANISERS NOTES

Welcome to the festival, which makes ya nightmares come true! We have a dream line up of DJ's, Bands, and Burlesque acts. The event has been put on by the members of Suicide Party. As you may know we put together a night called ClubDasEnde and decided that this bank holiday we would like to show off our favourite acts and best friends.

This little scribe will hopefully tell you abit about the acts that are involved tonight, to give you an insight on what you have got yourselves in for. I have written a quick review for the nine full bands, so please read on and find out "who the fuck are Suicide Party?"

THE BLUE VELVETS
http://www.myspace.com/thebluevelvetsmusic
The Blue Velvets are the band that will kick off the main events of the night. They are playing this festival for two reasons A) They are best friends of Suicide Party and B) They are fucking great. The band was formed by lead vocalist Tom Hayes.Tom was going under the name Adventure Wonderland and was chalking some of the best shoegaze/psych tunes I have ever heard (my personal favourite being 'In The Crave). It really would not be over the top in putting them tracks up there with Tom's hero Anton Newcombe.

Since then, he added members, changed the name and the sound has escalated. No longer tarred with the shoegaze/psych brush, he is now releasing songs of a distinct and epic nature. Bringing influences such as Spiritualized and The Kills he was writing music to take drugs/party/hug/fuck/sleep and marry to. Bringing the immense blues head Neil Atkinson will now mean this sound will just get bigger.

BLACK MARKET KARMA
http://www.myspace.com/blackmarketkarma
BMK played ClubDasEnde earlier in 2010. They have been asked back to play this festival for one reason.... They blew me away. On the same night that also boasted 'Thee Piaticons (more on them later), my ears were bleeding in the best of ways. With their shoegaze sound this London based outfit get compared to Brian Jonestown Massacre (not to mention the use of a tambourine player) but they give so much more. Coming back from a France tour just to play this festival, we are honoured to have this lot play AMN Festival.

MEDDICINE
http://www.myspace.com/meddicine
Suicide Party were lucky enough to share a line up at a recent Brixton gig to witness the immensely loud, psychotic and amazing noise you will ever witness. The girl behind this epic explosion of sound is Monika. Meddicine is dark, loud and extremely intense. On one listen Suicide Party were hooked and we are delighted we have got Meddicine to play our festival especially as she will be playing Offset Festival a week later.

DEATHLINE
http://www.myspace.com/thedeathline
What can I say about these two? THE COOLEST CATS IN TOWN. They have become the one of our closest friends. We have a shared love for each others music and Suicide Party had to get these to play our festival. They are not just the coolest kids on the block, they are amazing musicians. Likened to Jesus and Mary Chain and The Raveonettes, their noir-punk sound is something you need to hear. With the loud fuzz guitar of Kaoru and the dark bass tones of Jennie and the heavy drum machine beats, this is something you CANNOT miss and the perfect headline band for the Dorchester stage.

ORESTEIA
http://www.myspace.com/oresteiaband
The heading of the myspace says Melodramatic Popular Song / Pop / Experimental but these are the MOST Melodramatic, Popular, Pop and experimental beings you will witness. Experi-mental is probably the best way I can describe these immensely talented group of musicians. To watch these live is like a journey on an open top bus to wonderland, only the mad hatter would be hid under his tea cups in fear of being too... blah. I can hear David Byrne in Darrell Swainstons vocals and Slash in Jed's guitars.... Catch these kick off Lennons, you will not be disappointed.

ONE UNIQUE SIGNAL
http://www.myspace.com/oneuniquesignal
OUS are a band that Suicide Party managed to catch on tour with the legendary Telescopes. They are an experimental psyche band straight out of the noise guitar planet, of which Spacemen 3, Loop and The Telescopes came to earth from. You will hear wah-wah, tremolo, feedback smashed guitars that'll smack you in the head like a Battering ram. They are the kings of their genre and I, for one cannot wait to be abused by their noise

WOLFE
http://www.myspace.com/wolfeband
Wolfe were formed from the local legends Installation. They combine beats, synths, and guitars to guide the elegant Laura Wolfe's vocals mixed with the experimental vocals of Gavin Brook. They are very close friends of all of Suicide Party, and we are happy to have such a diverse twist on the festival. Stuart Rogers works tirelessly behind a table of dynamic beats while Paulus Fielder adds the edge on bass. Likened to Portishead, and The XX, they have found their feet and are ready to explode... You saw them here first!!!

8/12

I set out at the beginning of the year to try to improve the quality of my self-portraiture. I decided (secretly) then to try and do it as a year long project with a shoot a month till December.

I didn't post about the monthly schedule back then because, let's face it, neither you nor I have any confidence in my ability to finish things, but since I've somehow managed to get all the way to August still on schedule, I thought I might as well let you know.

Summery Summary

Here's a summary of the series so far. August's photos are coming very soon...
